How does it work? Simple enough: you think of a canonically queer (gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, asexual, genderqueer, poly et cetera) who you want to read happy fic about it, you prompt it, and someone fills it for you. Easy!
Rules
1. Only canonically queer characters fit the bill. For instance, Brian Kinney or Santana Lopez are both explicitly queer in their canons; Sherlock Holmes is not. If the character has explicitly stated or expressed that they are not heterosexual/cisgender, then they're applicable. If they haven't, then . . . they're not.
[addemdum] I've been asked about characters who don't explicitly declare themselves either way. I had to think hard about this one, because a) the idea for the meme originally sprung from seeing canon queer characters being abused by their narratives and wanting to give them a better time, and b) I didn't want to degenerate into the sidelining/erasure of canon women, which I see happening a lot in slash fandom. That said, I think if a character is undeclared- that is to say, haven't made their preferences clear either way- then they can be included in the prompts/fills. Subtext is a bit more of a case-by-case basis; you can ask about it in the questions thread below.
2. Crossovers are fine.
3. RPF is also fine, but again, only if the celebrities in question are openly queer. Chaz Bono is applicable; Anderson Cooper is not. (Please consider that celebrities are sometimes outed without their consent. If a celebrity has not VOLUNTARILY made their feelings clear, please do not post prompts for them.)
4. If your story includes any sort of potentially triggering content, warn for it in the subject line. This is non-negotiable. Failure to do so will result in the fill being deleted, so that you can repost it with appropriate warnings. If you're not sure what might constitute triggering content, feel free to ask in the questions thread.
5. Prompts should follow this format: "Canon, character/pairing, prompt." For instance, a prompt might read "Glee, Kurt Hummel, baby you're a firework." In the subject line of the fill, include the title, as well as the character you're basing the story on, the rating, and any warnings. So a response to that prompt might read "Kurt Hummel, opening night, PG"." This helps keep everything organized, as well as alerting prospective readers to stories that might interest them.
Fill List
untitled; Imagine Me and You, Rachel/Luce
dancing with you; Degrassi, Bianca/Adam
shut up and sing; Doctor Who/Glee, Kurt/Blaine
the worst you could do is be my best; Law and Order/Flashforward, Janis/Serena

Date: 2011-09-27 01:36 pm (UTC)"A ring," she says, her voice thick. Luce runs a fingertip (calloused from handling flowers) over the top of it, a graceful circle decorated with inset diamonds, a ruby in the center. "You know, I thought you were done with marriage." The words come out in a husky rush, as if Luce is afraid of what they mean.
Rachel settles against Luce with a sigh. "Not if the right one came along, mm?" She slides her hand against Luce's, plucks the ring from its casing. She offers it to Luce's bare finger, a tentative smile blooming on her face.
"You would go and ask me first, before I had the chance to sort you out." Luce shakes her head, but a smile starts there as well. The ring fits; some devilish handiwork on Rachel's part. Luce turns her hand this way and that in the light, the white catching, then the red. "It's a yes, by the way."
Rachel squeezes Luce's hand, nudges her way in for a kiss. "Happy Christmas," she whispers.
"Happy always."

Date: 2011-09-29 12:00 am (UTC)Adam watched as Bianca walked through the entrance to the dance - She had been quite a problem recently; Drew kept getting into trouble when she was around and frankly he was tired of it. Adam was always the one picking up the pieces whenever Drew came home upset.
And poor Katie - playing second fiddle - It didn't quite seem fair. Adam preferred her to Bianca, especially with all the nasty names Bianca had called him. But Adam knew that Drew couldn't help who he liked. It was clear that Drew still loved her and Adam did his best to help his brother balance his life out.
"Hey everyone," Bianca said with reservation. It was clear she was reticent about being at the dance. Why wouldn't she be? Her ex was here with his new girlfriend. Her other ex was a psychopath.
Drew stepped up, "Hey Bianca! Good to see you... We're all glad you're here... Aren't we guys?"
"Uh, yeah, Hi Bianca, good to see you -" Adam lied.
"Yeah, you look great," Katie said, through gritted teeth. It was clear Katie wasn't anymore happy about the situation than he was.
The tension was thick and Adam swore he could see Drew tugging on his collar, "Well, uh, let's get out and dance shall we?"
Drew took Katie by the hand, "Adam, would you dance with Bianca?"
Adam shot his brother a nasty look, "Uh - yeah, sure."
Bianca followed Adam onto the dance floor and as they found an open spot Adam turned on his heel to meet Bianca. They awkwardly negotiated a position as dance music pumped through the sound system.

Date: 2011-10-02 10:42 pm (UTC)For one thing, Serena was really pretty, in an annoying, distracting kind of way. Janis sat behind her in their Constitutional Law class and often she caught herself staring at the back of Serena's head, imagining what it would be like to run her fingers through Serena's shiny, golden hair, while her notebook sat blank, unattended to on her desk.
Serena was also clever, too, which was another box that got ticked off on Janis' mental list of Things I Really Like About Girls. Serena was always the first to have her hand up, ready with an answer, when the professor posed a question to the class; she put in long hours in the library; she was the first person to volunteer when it was asked for.
Smart and ambitious. Make that two checks.
(And she also looked really good in glasses and a pantsuit. Check and check.)
So of course, when Serena came to Janis in Spring Term of their first year and suggested they form a study group together, Janis should have said no. She should have, but she didn't -- in part because Serena was a hard worker and she'd help Janis push herself, but also because she really was just too pretty (and insistent) to resist. But Janis had told herself firmly that she wouldn't allow herself to get distracted; she couldn't afford it, number one, and number two, there was no point in nursing a crush on a girl who, by all accounts, was as straight as they came.
For the most part, she'd been pretty successful. And then Serena had kissed her.
They'd been at a party; Janis had lost Serena in the crowd five minutes after they'd arrived, as she hadn't known anyone else there, she'd spent the evening camped out on the stairs, nursing a bottle of lukewarm beer. When at last she was about to leave, bored out of her mind, Serena had found her.
Come on, Serena had said, as they'd shrugged on their coats. I'll walk back with you. I'm tired anyway.
They'd walked back in silence, Janis with her hands stuffed in her jacket pockets and Serena toying with the fringe on her scarf. Winter hadn't quite yet been swallowed up by spring yet and the nights were still cold.
Well, Janis said, stopping when they arrived at her dorm. I guess I'll you later.
Wait --, Serena had started. There was an edge of desperation to her tone, like she had been wanting to say something the whole way home, but hadn't quite worked up the nerve. Until now. Wait, Serena said again, in a softer voice.
In two small steps, she was upon Janis.
And then, she'd kissed her.
As far as kisses went, it wasn't terribly remarkable; which was to say, Janis' lips were chapped from the cold and Serena tasted strongly of scotch and Janis had no idea where to put her hands, so she held them out awkwardly and there was no finesse to it.
Which, in fact, made the kiss kind of amazing.
Oh, Janis had murmured, when Serena pulled away.
Serena had ducked her head and shoved her hands into her pockets. Well, I've got to go, she told Janis after a minute, just as the wind picked up. I'm going to have a terrible hangover tomorrow morning, so we'll have to meet later for our study session. If that's okay.
Janis nodded. Yeah, sure.
It didn't mean anything, Janis told herself. It couldn't have meant anything.
So, about that kiss, Janis said, a week later. They were in the back of the library, reviewing an old case for Monday's assignment.
Serena raised an eyebrow. What about it?
I just, um. Janis faltered. I was wondering, uh, did it -- did it mean anything?
Why would it mean anything?
Janis blushed. It's just, I . . . I thought that maybe when, you know, you kissed me, that you were drunk. Because why else would you kiss me? Sober people don't go around kissing people indiscriminately. Only now I don't think that you were. Drunk, that is. So I'm wondering why you would kiss me. Because that doesn't seem like nothing to me.
Maybe I do go around kissing people, Serena said, with a smirk. Indiscriminately. You don't know.
